How to book a live yoga class with Svayam Yoga
Find a live class, check when it runs in your own timezone, and book a place in it.
When this is useful
When self-paced practice has taken you as far as it can, when a correction keeps coming back, or when the honest answer is that you practise more reliably if someone is expecting you.
Before you start
- Your timezone set correctly. Every time on the screen is rendered in it, and a wrong one is the usual reason people miss a class.
- A rough idea of when you can actually attend. Classes run at fixed times, unlike everything else on the platform.
- Space to practise where the camera can see you, if you intend to be seen.
Steps
Step 1
Open My Schedule
My Schedule in the sidebar opens a page headed My Schedule. Booking lives inside it rather than on a page of its own - what you have already booked comes first, and classes you could book sit underneath.
Step 2
Read what you already have
The upcoming list at the top is your existing bookings. Check it before you book anything, because two classes an hour apart is a decision rather than an accident.
Step 3
Browse the available classes
Each card names the teacher, the style, the day and time, and how many spots are left. A class with no spots left shows Full and cannot be booked.
Step 4
Check the time is one you can keep
Times are shown in the timezone on your account. If they look wrong by a whole number of hours, fix the timezone in Settings before booking rather than doing the arithmetic yourself.
Step 5
Book the class
Book session reserves your place. The card switches to Booked and the spot count drops by one.
Step 6
Open the booking
View booking opens the detail for that class. This is where you return on the day.
What happens next
The class appears in the upcoming list on My Schedule and in the Upcoming Sessions panel on your dashboard. Every teacher taking a class has been reviewed and approved before they could be listed at all.
An example
You have practised alone for a month and the same shoulder cue keeps reappearing on your posture checks. You open My Schedule, find a Saturday morning class with a teacher whose styles match what you have been doing, and book it. The teacher watches the shoulder for an hour, which no camera reading was going to do for you.
Tips
- Book the time you can keep, not the time you would like to be the sort of person who keeps.
- If nothing suits, Office Hours is the lighter-weight option - teachers set aside times to be available without a full class.
- Check Settings once. A wrong timezone is silent and spoils every time on the platform.
Safety and limitations
- Tell the teacher about an injury or a sore area at the start, not after it hurts. They can only work around what they know about.
- A live class is guidance, not treatment. It does not diagnose or cure anything.
- If something hurts during the class, stop that movement. A teacher would rather adapt the pose than have you push through it.
Svayam supports a general wellbeing practice. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything, and it is not a substitute for medical advice, physiotherapy, or an in-person assessment by a qualified yoga teacher.
