How to become a yoga teacher on Svayam Yoga

Create a teacher account, complete the application, and submit it for review.

When this is useful

When you already teach and want another channel for it, or when you want to reach students who practise between classes rather than only in them.

Before you start

  • Your qualifications and certifications, as you would list them on a CV.
  • A bio you are happy for students to read. It is the main thing they choose you on.
  • The styles you teach and the hours you can realistically hold.
  • Every application is reviewed by a person before it is approved, so accuracy matters more than polish.

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Read the teacher page first

The Join as a teacher page sets out what teaching here involves before you commit to filling anything in.

  2. Step 2

Create an account as a teacher

On the sign-up form, switch the role from Student to Teacher before submitting. It is a toggle at the top of the form, and it decides which side of the platform you land on.

  3. Step 3

    Fill in About you

The first section of the teacher profile is who you are: your name, your bio and how you want to be introduced to students.

  4. Step 4

    Fill in Your expertise

The second section is what you teach - styles, certifications and experience. This is what the reviewer reads and what students see on your profile.

  5. Step 5

    Set Scheduling and preferences

The third section covers when and how you want to teach. You can change it after approval; you cannot skip it now.

  6. Step 6

    Submit and wait for review

Your dashboard shows the application status while a reviewer works through it. If it is not approved you are told the reason and can update the profile and resubmit rather than starting again.

What happens next

Once approved, the teacher tools open up: your sessions and availability, office hours, a Q and A inbox, courses, drill prescriptions, posture reviews sent to you by students, and earnings. Until then the application screen is what you see.

An example

You teach two studio classes a week and want a third channel. You apply on a Sunday, listing your certification and the two styles you actually teach rather than the six you have practised. The review comes back approved, and you open two office-hours slots before you commit to a full class.

Tips

  • List the styles you teach now, not everything you have ever trained in. Students choose on it and so does the reviewer.
  • Write the bio for a student deciding between you and someone else, not for a hiring manager.
  • Start with office hours rather than a full class. It is a smaller commitment while you learn how the platform runs.

Safety and limitations

  • You are responsible for teaching within your own competence and certification.
  • Teachers here give yoga guidance, not medical advice, and are asked not to present it as treatment for a condition.
  • Where a student's question is really a clinical one, the right answer is to send them to a clinician.

Svayam supports a general wellbeing practice. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything, and it is not a substitute for medical advice, physiotherapy, or an in-person assessment by a qualified yoga teacher.
